Picking flowers and deadheading are essential jobs all years round in the garden and I prefer to have a pair of robust scissors to hand for this. They need to be sharp, with good quality blades to make a good, clean cut. I like these particularly because they have decent-sized handle loops which mean you can get your fingers in to apply good pressure for cutting.

The handy size – 175mm long – and metal frame makes them invaluable and durable, and they sit neatly inside a ball of Nutscene twine. You’ll find plenty of other uses for them indoors too. Supplied on a vintage-style, decorative Nutscene card.
